"Premier Danielle Smith’s so-called “big win” with Mark Carney is unraveling fast. What was sold as a victory for Alberta is turning into a massive loss: higher carbon taxes, costly CO₂ capture commitments, and still no pipeline promise for years—if ever.
Meanwhile, in the House of Commons, both Conservatives and Liberals are cynically using Smith as a political weapon against each other. It’s pathetic. And the fight is only beginning. British Columbia, aboriginal groups, and environmental activists are gearing up for a long battle to block Alberta’s energy future.
Today, Smith will walk into the United Conservative Party AGM waving a piece of paper with a “pipeline agreement” on it, claiming victory. But for many Albertans, it looks more like appeasement to Carney’s extreme agenda."
