"The Alberta Prosperity Project has officially filed a revised independence referendum, with general counsel Jeffrey Rath telling True North the group is now aiming to collect one million signatures.
Alberta’s legislature unanimously backed Premier Danielle Smith’s energy memorandum of understanding with Ottawa. A similar motion presented in Parliament failed, fuelling claims that the deal between Ottawa and Alberta is meaningless.
The UCP and Alberta NDP traded blows in duelling year-end press conferences as the fall sitting wrapped up at the legislature.
And Alberta once again led the country in job growth as the province’s unemployment rate fell.
