More than 300,000 Albertans signed the petition calling for a referendum on independence, far exceeding the required threshold and marking a historic moment in the movement.
This update breaks down what that milestone means, how the legal process works, and why the Alberta government has the ability to move forward with an independence referendum question.
The next challenge is no longer collecting signatures. It is persuading Albertans who are still unsure, building a serious campaign, and making the case for independence with discipline, respect, and strategy.
