«Canada’s political structure is fundamentally broken for Alberta.
Ontario and Quebec determine the federal government, while Alberta is left paying more, receiving less and repeatedly asking Ottawa for permission to develop its own resources.
Independence is not about walking away. It is about walking forward through the legal process, bringing Ottawa and the other provinces to the negotiating table, and establishing a new relationship in which Alberta participates as an equal.
Alberta has enormous negotiating strength. Central Canada depends on Alberta energy. British Columbia depends on Alberta trade routes and petroleum products. Alberta has a diverse economy, vast agricultural production, the world’s third-largest oil reserves and direct access to the largest market on Earth.
A vote to stay changes nothing. It tells Ottawa to continue with more net-zero restrictions, uncontrolled spending, unsustainable immigration and policies imposed on Alberta by politicians elected elsewhere.
