«A few days ago, I asked for your thoughts on Alberta independence — and wow.
Over 300 of you emailed me. That’s incredible.
After sorting the responses into four groups, a few patterns jumped out:
- People fully in favour of independence
• People fully against independence
• People on the fence
• People outside Alberta weighing in
The sample sizes for the “against” group and the out‑of‑province group were smaller, but even there, I saw something interesting: the people firmly opposed aren’t necessarily a lost cause. Many had specific concerns, not blanket rejection.
But the biggest opportunity?
The fence‑sitters.
These are the people who could be persuaded — not with slogans, but with a real transition plan that answers their practical questions.
There’s a lot here that Alberta‑focused leaders and organizers can learn from. I’ll be digging deeper into your emails and may share some anonymized insights in a future video.
I wish I could reply to everyone personally, but there were simply too many messages.
Thank you for taking the time to write. Your input matters.»
