Video | Alberta Independence Movement, Preston Manning Speaks Out! "The West Wants BEST!" by Canadian Taxpayers Federation

«You know how Albertans can fire politicians with the power of recall laws, see what government spends and hold referendums on things that matter?

And how people are demanding that Ottawa smarten up, balance its budget and free The West to prosper using its own natural resources?

Preston Manning started that fire of grassroots democracy when he founded The Reform Party and quickly became the Leader of the Opposition. It was Manning and his team who demanded that then finance Minister Paul Martin balance the budget and stop runaway deficit spending.

While in Ottawa, Manning also championed the rights of firearms owners, everyday working people and property owners.

Today, he’s still fighting for taxpayers. And Alberta is at a crossroads.

Manning is chairing a special forum in September that will fulsomely discuss all of the referendum questions Albertans (and by extension many in The West) are being asked on October 19th.

Should newcomers who aren’t citizens pay user fees when they use our taxpayer funded schools and hospitals? Should Alberta appoint its own judges and control its immigration, as Quebec does? Should Alberta pursue a path of sovereignty?

Should we get rid of the unelected Senate in Ottawa??

That last question is KEY for Manning. For years he fought to make the Senate equally represent The West, but it still favours the East.

For years he fought to make the Senate elected so that we the people were getting a say and were being represented by people we choose.

But the Senate is still appointed by the PMO.

Preston Manning, the father of the grassroots accountable government movement in Canada, says:

“It’s time to send a strong message to Ottawa in October.”

Canadian Taxpayer Federation Alberta Director Kris Sims speaks with Manning about The West at a crossroads and why we need to scrap the unelected Senate in Ottawa.

Tune in and find out, then FIGHT BACK.»
