Premier Danielle Smith & Alberta MLAs,
It’s time for an honest, clear conversation about Alberta’s future. For decades, Ottawa has treated Alberta as a cash cow while stifling our ability to prosper. The National Energy Program of the 1980s gutted our economy, and federal interference in our energy sector continues to this day. The carbon tax, pipeline restrictions, and now the push for a net-zero economy are direct attacks on Alberta’s wealth and autonomy.
Energy caps and federal policies have consistently put Alberta at a disadvantage. We produce the oil and gas that fuel Canada’s economy, yet we are penalized while Eastern Canada imports foreign oil. Billions of our tax dollars are funneled east with little return, and our ability to manage our own resources is choked by Ottawa’s regulations. We should be exporting our oil and gas on our own terms, setting fair tariffs, and reinvesting in Alberta—not subsidizing a federal government that undermines us.
Beyond energy, Ottawa has encroached on Alberta’s ability to manage its own affairs. Federal oversight of our provincial parks and natural resources is an unnecessary intrusion. Alberta is more than capable of administering our own lands, preserving our parks, and making responsible environmental decisions without federal red tape.
The solution? A Republic of Alberta.
Separating from Canada would allow us to:
✅ Control our own energy exports, negotiating directly with international markets, including the U.S.
✅ Eliminate equalization payments that drain Alberta’s wealth.
✅ Manage our parks, resources, and industries without federal interference.
✅ Set our own economic policies, free from Ottawa’s anti-Alberta agenda.
✅ Build a government that serves Albertans first—not Eastern bureaucrats.
Ottawa has shown time and again that it will not change. The only way forward is for Alberta to take control of its own destiny. The time for half-measures is over. Alberta deserves self-determination, economic freedom, and a government that works for its people.
The question is simple: Will you stand up for Alberta’s future, or will you continue to let Ottawa hold us back?
Albertans are ready for leadership that puts our province first. The choice is yours.
