"Adopting a constitutional republican model of government would give an independent Alberta a clear, modern framework for democratic legitimacy, while preserving institutional stability. A republic places sovereignty unambiguously in the people, exercised through a written constitution that defines the limits of power, protects rights, and establishes clear succession, and accountability. This model avoids ambiguity around executive authority, ensures civilian control of government, and provides continuity regardless of personalities. For a new state, constitutional republicanism offers predictability to citizens, investors, and international partners alike: signaling that Alberta is grounded in the rule of law rather than personal or inherited authority."
